TIP #2: Place identification information inside your checked luggage:
When the handle of a suitcase goes, so does most of the identification. Airlines have no idea where to send the luggage if this happens. Place a note on top of your clothing in checked luggage and include the following:
If Luggage is lost, please return to:
TIP #3: Proper identification when traveling to Caribbean or Mexico:
US Citizens must have: a valid passport, or a certified birth certificate with a raised seal AND a state issued valid photo ID. (NO hospital certificates allowed).
Married women: If using your birth certificate for proof of citizenship with a current photo ID noting your married name, you should also carry a copy of your marriage license or 2 additional pieces of ID with your married name (voters registration, social security card etc.) With a passport, please make your reservations in the same name that is on your passport.
Minors: (under age 18) Traveling without both parents: must have a NOTARIZED letter of consent signed by both parents in addition to proof of citizenship. If one parent is deceased, a copy of the death certificate is required. If parents are divorced, both parents must sign a NOTARIZED consent letter, unless one parent has sole custody, in which case a copy of the custody papers is required.
A letter that is notarized must have a raised seal and stamp.
TIP #4: Drink plenty of fluids:
On long flights (especially International) drink plenty of water. Airplanes usually have low humidity in the cabin and passengers can get dehydrated on long flights.
TIP #5: Plan ahead and as early as possible:
Generally, you will get the best deal and a worry-free vacation when you make your travel plans as early as possible. We have access to airline schedules and tariffs eleven months in advance. We normally have access to "packaged tours" up to six months in advance. If your plans include traveling over any holiday, book your trip very early on or you will pay more than your neighbors and friends who planned ahead.
Yes, there are some last minute specials. The drawbacks with these are: you have to be able to drop everything and go last minute; you may not get all of your choices (for example: favorite hotel sold out, etc.); there may not be enough seats for your party; your employer may not be able to grant your last minute time off request; the tour company may already be sold out, which means you sit home dreaming about a vacation!
